CHESTERTOWN — Earlier this week, a Delaware man was served an arrest warrant charging him with handgun violations related to firing of the weapon in a hotel room here where there were children.
Dominick Anthony Pisapia, 39, of Clayton is charged with four counts of reckless endangerment and single counts of allowing a firearm to be accessible to a minor, having a handgun on person, having a loaded handgun on person, handgun in a vehicle and loaded handgun in a vehicle — all misdemeanors.
Pisapia was released on personal recognizance.
His trial is scheduled for June 2 in the District Court for Kent County.
The warrant was served Wednesday, April 16.
According to Chestertown Police Chief Ron Dixon, the charges stem from an incident March 28 at the Red Roof Inn on Scheeler Road, where Pisapia was staying for the weekend with his children, ages 7 and 10.
For reasons unknown, according to a news release from the Chestertown Police Department, a 9mm handgun in Pisapia’s possession discharged, sending a round into a neighboring room that was occupied.
No one was injured, Dixon told The Evening Enterprise.
During the investigation, police learned that Pisapia did not have a Maryland concealed carry permit.
