WORTON — Fabio Terlevich of Hinchingham is the Kent Soil and Water Conservation District’s Cooperator of the Year.
He was feted at the annual Cooperators Dinner, which was held April 11 at Red Acres Farm Venue in Worton.
More than 250 people attended the event, including Terlevich’s family and friends, as well as fellow farmers, producers and landowners.
Terlevich was honored by the Kent Soil and Water Conservation District board of supervisors, Kent County Commissioners, Maryland Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service and state Delegate Jay Jacobs, who represents Kent County in the General Assembly.
The Cooperator of the Year is a producer or family who has made significant contributions to conservation practices on their land. The award acknowledges their dedication and good stewardship of soil and other natural resources.
Terlevich owns nearly 600 acres in the Tolchester area.
According to a news release, he “is working to turn his land into an oasis for wildlife by creating patches of early successional habitat for bobwhite quail, turkey, grassland birds and deer.”
Soil health is a priority for Terlevich, who is “planting green, drilling into soybeans, sorghum and occasionally corn,” the news release states.
