Following exhibition game at Navy, Shoremen to resume DIII schedule at Salisbury

ANNAPOLIS — Senior guard Austin Inge scored 10 points, set a career high with seven rebounds and neared a career best with five assists in 19 minutes of playing time Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall to help Division I Navy defeat Washington, 91-33, in a non-conference men’s basketball game.

Washington competes on the NCAA Division III level and considered this to be an exhibition game which will not count toward its season record that currently is 3-6.

Five Mids scored at least nine points, and seven had at least four rebounds.

Kedrick Frink (six rebounds) and Zack Skrocki led the Shoremen with seven points apiece.

Washington went 15 deep, and seven players put points on the board.

Navy (3-6) scored the first 11 points, then used a 9-0 run — which included six points from Inge — to extend its lead to 24-6 with 11 and a half minutes remaining in the half.

Shooting 56% from the field and holding their guests to 23%, the Mids led 46-20 at intermission.

Navy put the game out of reach with a 25-0 run midway through the second half that made it 79-30 with just over six minutes remaining.

All 16 Mids who dressed for the game took to the court, with 10 playing at least 10 minutes and 14 playing at least six minutes.

Scoring was divided among 13 players.

Pacing the Navy offense were Kam Summers and Lysander Rehnstrom with 13 points apiece; collectively, they were 5-of-10 in 3-point attempts.

Donovan Draper (seven points) snared a game-high nine rebounds, helping Navy to a 51-27 advantage on the boards.
