BETTERTON — Joe Sabasteanski of Kennedyville and his children — from left, Carter, Bo and Scout — can’t take their eyes off the model trains Sunday in Betterton, a free Christmastime event hosted annually by Larry Crew, Bob Pyfer, Dick Story and John Maurer.
There were 131 visitors on Saturday, Dec. 7, according to Story, who anticipated at least that many on Sunday.
New this year were G scale trains, joining Lionel, American Flyer and HO scale model trains.
Story has the HO scale trains. The setup is “thematically Betterton,” i.e., there’s a lot of Betterton items — including sunbathers on the beach and a replica of the grand Hotel Rigbie up on the bluff. This year Story added a few Baltimore Ravens items.
The train show, held in the former town hall on Third Avenue, is sponsored by the Betterton Mayor and Council and the Betterton Community Development Corp.
