WILMER PARK — About 1,000 people attended Chestertown’s Pride Festival here on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, according to organizers.
This was the first local celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride, community and allyship since the inaugural event in 2019.
“Bringing Pride back to Chestertown” was a goal of the Kent County Chapter of the Delmarva Pride Center, said organizers.
The plan is to make this an annual event.
Festivities kicked off on Friday with an evening dance party.
The main festival on Saturday afternoon included live entertainment and performances; local vendors and artisans; community organizations and resource tables; family-friendly activities; and food trucks.
