Bookplate/The Kitchen welcome poet Sue Ellen Thompson

CHESTERTOWN — Sue Ellen Thompson, author of “Sea Nettles: New & Selected Poems” and five other books of poetry, is The Bookplate’s next featured lecturer.

She will talk about her work at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 at The Kitchen and Pub at The Imperial Hotel.

The poems in “Sea Nettles” explore relationships between people of three generations as they evolve over decades.

Thompson’s work has been included in the Best American Poetry series; read on National Public Radio more than a dozen times by Garrison Keillor; and been nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize.

Thompson received the 2010 Maryland Author Prize from the Maryland Library Association.

She teaches workshops at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, and is editor of “The Autumn House Anthology of Contemporary American Poetry.”

For more information, call The Bookplate at 410-778-4167 or email contact@thebookplate.net.

Thompson’s talk is free and open to the public.

The Kitchen at The Imperial is located at 208 High St. in downtown Chestertown.

The Bookplate will continue its author series with a reservation-only lecture at the Lawrence Wetlands Preserve on June 12 when Christopher Tilghman will talk about his new book, “On The Tobacco Coast.”
