GALENA — The Town of Galena faithfully honors its patriots and celebrates their heroism annually on Veterans Day.
This year’s honorees on Tuesday, Nov. 11 are Tommy Camp as the living veteran and Norris Brown, who is buried in Olivet Hill cemetery located just outside the town’s corporate limits.
Camp, who achieved the rank of corporal with the military police, will be the keynote speaker.
He was assigned to HQ Battallion, 3rd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, in Okinawa, Japan.
Brown (1849-1922) was a private in the U.S. Army. He served during the Civil War with Co. F, 7th United States Colored Infantry.
Tuesday’s ceremony, in the cemetery adjacent to St. Dennis Catholic Church, will begin at 10 a.m.
The public is invited.
Kent School and Chestertown Christian Academy have confirmed that some of their students will attend.
In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the St. Dennis Church hall.
