Carol McClees featured at The Artists’ Gallery in August

CHESTERTOWN — The Artists’ Gallery will host an opening reception for exhibitor Carol McClees on First Friday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

McClees’ newest body of work, titled “Wonders of Water,” is inspired by the Chesapeake Bay and will be featured throughout August.

An award-winning contemporary painter favoring oil, McClees explores the diverse moods and activities surrounding the Bay.

“The Chesapeake Bay is essential to Maryland and the people who live here,” she said. “It can be calm, pristine, stagnant, choppy, refreshing, tempestuous and unpredictable.”

McClees’ paintings have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, including the Coos Art Museum, the American Society of Marine Artists East Regional Show and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

She is an active member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Working Artists Forum and Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.

The Artists’ Gallery is located at 239 High St. in downtown Chestertown.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays.
