CCA boys’ 12 unanswered points in 2nd quarter key to homecoming win

CHESTERTOWN — Chestertown Christian Academy’s middle school boys basketball team defeated its guest from Fairwinds Christian School, 22-27, on homecoming Friday, Feb. 6. 

It was the first win of the season for the Patriots, who are coached by Jacob Clark.

JR Westfall scored a game-high 12 points for CCA, which erased a 9-2 first-quarter deficit to pull ahead at intermission, 14-9.

CCA closed the first half on a 12-0 run, led by Westfall’s seven points.

Westfall added five more points in the third quarter and Wyatt Wiltbank chipped in with four as Chestertown Christian Academy extended its lead to 25-15.

Wiltbank finished with eight points, and accounted for CCA’s only field goal of the fourth quarter.

Also contributing on the scoreboard for the winners were Hayden Dorsey with six points and CJ Newgent with a free throw.

Jordan Castillo and Jaxson Willmore were the top scorers for Fairwinds [Bear, Delaware] with six and five points, respectively.
