Change in county Dems meeting: McIntosh to talk via Zoom

CHESTERTOWN — The Democratic Club of Kent County announced in an email Tuesday that its July 18 presenter, former Maryland House of Delegates majority leader Maggie McIntosh, will give her talk via the video conferencing platform Zoom.

She is unable to travel to Chestertown due to a medical emergency.

Members of the public are encouraged to contact info@dckcmd.com to get the Zoom link.

The link will open shortly before 7 p.m.

The change in format also means that there is a change in program. Chestertown Mayor David Foster’s presentation on the “tax differential” will be rescheduled.

McIntosh represented Baltimore City in the House of Delegates from 1992 until her retirement at the end of 2022. She was the first woman to serve as House majority leader and the first woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee. She also chaired the Environmental Matters Committee for a decade.

She is currently a senior consultant for Cornerstone Government Affairs’ Annapolis-based team that serves clients in the mid-Atlantic region.

According to a prior news release from the Democratic Club of Kent County, McIntosh “will offer insights into the disappointing record of Larry Hogan’s tenure as governor, offering examples of his actions while in office that make him a poor choice for any further office.”

Hogan, a two-term Republican governor, will face off against Democrat Angela Alsobrooks for Maryland’s open U.S. Senate seat in November’s election.
