Choptank to offer mobile medical services in Millington

MILLINGTON — Choptank Community Health is bringing mobile medical services to Millington on Tuesdays (9 a.m.) beginning Jan. 23. The location is town hall, 402 Cypress St.

“After years of discussions, we finally will be able to be a part of Choptank Health’s Mobile schedule,” Town Administrator Elizabeth Jo Manning told The Evening Enterprise in an email Jan. 17.

Manning said she initially reached out to Choptank before the COVID pandemic in 2020, at about the same time the Town of Millington was exploring buying the former elementary school from the county and the original iteration of a senior housing project in the Mill Village subdivision.

According to a flyer that has been circulated by Choptank Community Health, its team will include either a nurse practitioner or physician assistant as well as a bilingual (Spanish speaking) support staff member.

“Our caring providers are ready to help with sickness and provide guidance for managing chronic conditions, tailored to the needs of people of all ages,” the flyer states.

Services offered by the Mobile Health Unit include:

• urgent care/sick care, including tests for strep, flu, COVID and RSV

• non-urgent follow-up visits

• management and follow-up for high blood pressure, diabetes and other chronic conditions

• physical exams and preventative care appointments

Choptank Community Heath Services accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurance plans, according to the flyer.

“If you don’t have insurance, don’t worry — we have a sliding fee scale to make sure you can still receive quality healthcare,” the flyer states.

To schedule a Mobile Health Unit appointment, call 443-215-5353.

Same day/walk-up appointments are welcome when the schedule allows, “providing flexibility for those who need immediate care,” the flyer states.
