CHESTERTOWN — The annual summertime sidewalk sales in downtown Chestertown known as Crazy Days will return Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 25-27. Shops will open by 10 a.m. each day and have extended hours — closing at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 5 p.m. Saturday.
This is sponsored by the Downtown Chestertown Association, in partnership with Main Street Historic Chestertown and the Chestertown Recreation Commission.
Deals can be found in men’s and women’s fashions, children’s clothing and toys, jewelry, home décor, crafts, kitchen items, books, artwork, art supplies, pampered pet must-haves and even musical instruments.
Eateries are posting Crazy Days specials, and the Animal Care Shelter for Kent County will sell hot dog lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Chestertown Police Department’s Crime Dog McGruff will be out and about — as long as it’s not too hot.
There are several extra-special offerings scheduled for Saturday, beginning with the second annual Ping-Pong ball drop.
At 10 a.m. on Memorial Row, a bucket of Ping-Pong balls will be dropped from a Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company ladder truck. The balls will contain discounts and freebies at participating downtown shops, redeemable only on Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28. The limit is one Ping-Pong ball redemption per shop.
Bubble Dad, sponsored by Main Street Historic Chestertown, will set up in Memorial Row after the Ping-Pong ball drop.
There also will be free face painting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Meantime, Phoenix Martial Arts will offer three demonstrations in Fountain Park: forms at 10:30 a.m.; weapons at noon; and self-defense at 1:30 p.m.
Also, the Chestertown Recreation Commission will have Jenga and Connect 4 games from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
