CHESTERTOWN — Main Street Historic Chestertown is encouraging donors to take advantage of the organization’s remaining allocation of $14,250 in Maryland state tax credits before they expire at the end of the calendar year.
These tax credits offer donors an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution while receiving a 50% tax credit for donations of $500 or more.
The Community Investment Tax Credits, awarded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, are available until the end of December 2024.
Donors who want to support Main Street Historic Chestertown’s efforts to promote tourism and enhance the downtown area are encouraged to take advantage of these credits while they last.
According to a news release, this year’s tax credits will help fund key projects such as the Chestertown Visitors’ Guide, regional ads and events such as the Chestertown Car Show, Tea Party Block Party and Dickens of a Christmas.
“These tax credits are a great incentive for our supporters, but the clock is ticking,” Kristen Owen, president of the Main Street Historic Chestertown board, said in the news release. “We encourage donors to act soon to make the most of this opportunity before the credits expire at the end of 2024.”
