Earth Day Festival returns to Chestertown for 16th year

CHESTERTOWN — The annual local celebration of Earth Day, now in its 16th year, will be held Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Park Row side of Fountain Park in downtown Chestertown.

The 2026 Earth Day Festival will include a community trash walk; display of electric bicycles and locally owned electric vehicles; free recycling of household batteries and fluorescent bulbs; tree seedling giveaways; eco-friendly children’s crafts courtesy of KidSPOT; and information booths promoting stewardship, from solar energy to making your backyard more eco-friendly to do-it-yourself composting.

New this year, Shore Soils is offering free compost to enrich your garden. Bring a bucket; bags also will be available.

Back for a second year, free paper shredding, courtesy of Chesapeake Investment Advisors, will be available from 9 a.m. to noon at the corner of Calvert Street and Spring Avenue.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Chestertown Ukulele Club and Justinian and Laurel Dispenza.

Everyone is invited to participate in the community trash/recycle walk along streets, sidewalks and trails; this is an opportunity to learn about what you may recycle instead of adding to the landfill. Gloves and bags will be provided.

The Chestertown Environmental Committee and the Town of Chestertown continue as hosts.
