Elevating their game

WORTON — Four Kent County High School senior athletes on Thursday morning, May 16 ceremoniously signed letters of intent to play sports at the college level. They already had officially committed to their respective schools.

Trice Moore (Washington College, trap and skeet), Martin Parrish (Salisbury University, soccer), Will Speakman (Bridgewater College, lacrosse) and Landon Wallace (Neumann University, lacrosse) attended the informal signing in the KCHS auditorium.

Each will be attending an NCAA Division III institution.

They were accompanied by their families and friends, Principal Kris Hemstetter and Athletic Director Kevin Taylor.

“Going to the next level is an incredible achievement. Amazing,” Taylor told the athletes.

“Congratulations to all of you,” Hemstetter added. “This is so exciting. This is the next step.”

There’s a lot going on in the next two weeks leading up to graduation on May 31, she reminded the seniors.

“Pause, reflect and appreciate yourself,” Hemstetter said.

“Be proud of yourself,” she said, “because we are proud of you, your families are proud of you and the community is proud of you.”
