CHESTERTOWN — Emmanuel Episcopal Church is accepting applications up until Monday, Sept. 9 for what is popularly known as its annual “Christmas bazaar grants.”
Applications can be emailed to emmanuelchestertown@gmail.com or mailed to Emmanuel Church, P.O. Box 875, Chestertown, MD 21620, Attention: Grant Committee.
Funds are raised and disbursed by the church’s yearly Christmas bazaar that is held in late November. Tentative dates for this year’s event are a preview party on Friday night, Nov. 22 and the bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Grants are intended for nonprofits and organizations that support people and communities in Kent County and northern Queen Anne’s County.
Up to five grants will be awarded. Recipients will be notified by Sept. 30.
In recent years, the amount per grant has ranged from $3,000 to $5,000.
Grants will be awarded regardless of creed, faith, religion or denomination.
Recipients are expected to use the funds for the purpose(s) stated in the grant application.
Grant recipients will be asked to commit to making four appearances at Emmanuel Episcopal Church:
• At an informational presentation — during a postworship coffee hour on a Sunday prior to the bazaar — to parishioners about your organization, your mission and how the funds will be used.
• Staffing of an informational table on your organization’s behalf at the bazaar preview party and at the actual bazaar.
• At a presentation/reception during the 11:45 a.m. coffee hour that typically takes place one or two weeks after the Christmas bazaar.
