First Friday focus is United Way nonprofits and Washington College students

CHESTERTOWN — September’s celebration of First Friday — Sept. 6 — will include an ice cream social in Fountain Park for all Washington College students and a showcase for the United Way of Kent County.

Other attractions will include the Blue Monkey food truck and live music performed by Quinn Arnold.

First Friday is sponsored by the Downtown Chestertown Association, whose members open their doors and welcome the community to stroll the sidewalks, converse with friends, eat, drink, shop and support local businesses.

Main Street Chestertown is the co-host.

The ice cream social is from 5 to 7 p.m.

Chestertown Mayor David Foster and Washington College President Michael Sosulski will welcome students at 6:15 p.m.

The DCA and Main Street Chestertown will be handing out coupons to Washington College students for a free scoop of ice cream at either Stam’s Luncheonette or Sugar Doodles or for a free pretzel at Modern Stone Age Kitchen.

Also on Friday, the United Way-supported nonprofits will share their vision and goals.

The 300-block of High Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.
