Rod ‘n reeling

TURNER’S CREEK — Kaison Schaner, 12, might describe himself as a “fishing fanatic.”¬†

He said he’s always on the lookout for new places to cast a line, or two.

On Saturday, Kaison and his 10-year-old cousin Calvin took advantage of clear skies and warmish temperatures to try their luck at Turner’s Creek public landing near Kennedyville. They baited their lines with chicken breast, but the fish weren’t biting.

Disappointed, but not deterred, after about an hour the duo packed up their gear — including two rods apiece — and headed toward Chestertown to see if a change in locale would change their luck.

If not,¬†Kaison seemed to be of the philosophy that there’s no such thing as a bad day fishing.
