Former Kean men’s volleyball coach to head Shore ladies’ program

CHESTERTOWN — Charlie Ginex has been hired as head coach of the Washington College women’s volleyball program, Athletic Director Thad Moore announced in a July 31 news release.

Ginex succeeds Jamie Leventry, who resigned in late June after 11 years at the helm

Leventry is now the head coach of the girls volleyball program at Queen Anne’s County High School.

Since 2023, Ginex has served as head of player development at Momentum Volleyball in Middletown, Delaware, where he led camps, clinics and training staff, while also managing a jump training program for players and coaching multiple teams.

From 2014 to 2022 he coached men’s volleyball at Kean University in New Jersey, compiling a 186-54 record. His winning percentage of 77.5 is the best in program history.

Ginex led the Cougars to five NCAA Division III Tournament berths and six straight conference titles, while being named conference coach of the year four times.

According to the news release, Ginex has coached 14 All-Americans and 13 all-region players.

Washington AD Moore said Ginex’s “passion for and knowledge of the game of volleyball stood out during the interview process and we are excited to witness his impact with our program.”

The Shore netters pull back the curtain on the 2024 season Aug. 30-31 with three matches at Moravian College.

Their home opener is Sept. 4.
