CHESTERTOWN — The annual holiday parade in Chestertown on Friday night, Nov. 28 featured 30-some entries, including Kent County High School’s Brigade of Blue marching band.
Pictured here is Jodi Bortz, who is the music director at alma mater KCHS. She is director of the marching band, concert band and jazz band, and also serves as the musical director for the school’s annual drama production.
Students in the Kent County Middle School band marched with the Brigade of Blue, and together they performed “What Christmas Means To Me” by Stevie Wonder.
Friday night’s parade also included a performance of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” by the Kent County Community Band’s low brass barbershop ensemble, floats, classic vehicles, lots of colorful lights, a faux snow shower and the arrival of Santa aboard a Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company truck.
Police Chief Ron Dixon led off the parade down High Street as the escort to co-grand marshals David Foster, the current mayor, and Meghan Efland, who will succeed Foster in the new year.
