NEW CASTLE, Del. — Joe Holt of Chestertown and Dale Kerns of Rising Sun have joined the board of directors of Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Holt spent more than 30 years at Washington College where he served as chief of staff, executive vice president, vice president for administration and executive director of institutional giving and stewardship — among other positions.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in history and a Harvard Graduate School of Education Institute for Educational Management certificate.
Holt is an active member of his community, volunteering with organizations that include Sacred Heart Church, The Shelter Alliance and Kent County Board of Elections.
“I have long admired the mission of Easterseals, and I look forward to doing my part to extend and strengthen their work,” Holt said in a news release.
Kerns is a Rotary district governor of District 7630, which includes the state of Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. District 7630 regularly provides financial support as well as hands-on action to improve Camp Fairlee and various Easterseals programs.
Kerns has served in various roles in District 7630 and often uses her skills as an educator and school counselor with various nonprofits that she volunteers with in Cecil County.
Kerns said that during her year of service as district governor, she plans to work to bring more awareness of the programs and projects Easterseals offers in the region to the nearly 1,400 Rotary members in District 7630.
“Having worked with a wide variety of students in my 33 years as an educator and counselor, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that Easterseals programs offer children, adolescents and families,” Kerns said in the news release.
“The work of Rotarians in Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore with programs like Camp Fairlee as well as learning and community involvement provided by Easterseals allows us to continue Rotary’s mission of being ‘People of Action.’ I look forward to continuing this valuable relationship,” Kerns said.
According to the news release, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is leading the way to an inclusive community through its innovative services, which include children’s therapies; day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities; supported employment; senior services; recreational camping; respite services; and services for caregivers.
