WORTON — Escorted by their parents, seniors Kate Cannon and Karon Houston were crowned as Kent County High School’s homecoming queen and king Thursday night during halftime of the football game.

Criteria for selection included academics, extracurricular activities, an interview and students’ vote.

Kate and Karon are athletes and on the college-prep track.

Halftime festivities also included a performance by the high school’s Brigade of Blue marching band.

KCHS defeated Washington, 26-0, after building an 18-0 lead by intermission. Jonah Somerville scored three touchdowns and Dwan Harris on a quarterback keeper scored the other.

A week of homecoming activities concluded Friday night with a dance.
