WORTON — Summer sped by for The Evening Enterprise staff, before we could properly close out our sports coverage for the 2025-26 academic year at Kent County High School.
We aim to correct that by recognizing the top athletes in the Class of 2026.
Kamari Hoxter and Chase Dolgos were cited for their outstanding sportsmanship.
Kamari lettered multiple times in cheerleading and outdoor track, twice was the team MVP in cheerleading, three times was the Coach’s Choice recipient in cheerleading and qualified for the state championships as a high jumper.
She excelled in the classroom as well, graduating with honors [grade point average of 3.0 to 3.66 on a 4.0 scale] and a Certificate of Merit; as a Dual Completer [Career and Technical Education plus Spanish 1 and 2] and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Completer; and as a member of the Minority Scholars Program and National Art Honor Society.
She is a freshman at Morgan State University in Baltimore, majoring in elementary education.
Chase has started his first semester at Delaware Technical Community College, studying construction management while perhaps pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in business. He also is continuing to work as a landscaper.
He graduated from KCHS in May as a Dual Completer.
Chase’s story is particularly compelling because he was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia as a freshman, just a couple of weeks after the conclusion of his 2022-23 junior varsity basketball season.
His treatment included chemotherapy and numerous hospitalizations.
As a senior, a healthy Chase was a triple threat, earning varsity letters in soccer, basketball and baseball. Plus, he was the team outstanding sportsman in varsity basketball and baseball.
