In winter’s grip

CHESTERTOWN — Local government offices, the public library, banks and schools were shuttered Friday, Jan. 19 as a Winter Weather Advisory went into effect at 4 a.m.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. with snow accumulation of about 3 inches. Temperatures will rapidly drop into the teens late tonight. Any untreated roads will become icy and dangerous. Areas of blowing snow are possible over the weekend

The weekend forecast is sunny but cold during the day, with highs in the low 30s by Sunday and as low as 17 on Sunday night.
