CENTREVILLE — To share information about dozens of classes designed for lifelong learners in the “50-plus community,” the Institute for Adult Learning will hold a spring course showcase on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Kennard Cultural Center, 410 Little Kidwell Ave. in Centreville.
The event, which is free, will begin at 2 p.m.; doors will open at 1:30 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, the showcase will be rescheduled to Jan. 11.
A news release states, “This is your opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, take part in intellectually stimulating discussions and stay active — all in a welcoming, social environment.”
The spring semester runs from Feb. 3 through May 16.
Classes are offered Monday through Friday during the day, with sessions ranging from one to eight meetings. Most classes are held at the Kennard Cultural Center. The focus is on personal enrichment and fun; there are no grades and no tests.
Courses are offered in the categories of brain, body and soul; history and current events; culinary arts; environment and science; and literature, arts and crafts.
Full course descriptions are available on the IAL website, www.instituteforadultlearning.org.
A $90 membership fee grants unlimited access to all courses throughout the semester; members also have access to monthly happy hours, special events and field trips.
Online registration for classes begins at 9 a.m. on the day of the showcase. You also can fill out the registration form to enroll for classes at the showcase.
