CHURCH HILL — One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Church Hill, according to a news release from the Maryland State Police.
The driver and sole occupant of a Kia passenger vehicle, identified as Mickie Mowbray, 58, of Greensboro, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other vehicle, a Mazda, was occupied by a 22-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old female passenger. They were airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Around 9:10 a.m. July 22, troopers from the state police barrack in Centreville responded to southbound U.S. Route 301 at Price Station Road (state Route 405) for a report of a two-vehicle crash with entrapment.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Mazda was traveling south when it struck the driver’s side of the Kia attempting to cross Route 301, subsequently causing it to overturn.
One person was reportedly ejected.
Speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to Maryland State Police.
The MSP Crash Team is leading the investigation.
Once the investigation has been completed, findings will be submitted to the Office of the Queen Anne’s County State’s Attorney, which will decide if charges will be filed.
