Kathy Kopec is gallery’s featured artist for March

CHESTERTOWN — The Artists’ Gallery will feature the work of its new exhibitor, Kathy Kopec, on March 1 as part of downtown Chestertown’s monthly First Friday activities.

The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet Kopec.

Her exhibit is titled “Capturing the Moment.”

The Artists’ Gallery is located at 239 High St.

After raising a family and retiring from a career as an operating room nurse, Kopec decided to pursue her longtime dream of becoming an artist.

Moving from Toms River, New Jersey to Easton, she found it to be the ideal place to fulfill that dream.

Kopec has studied for years with Nancy Tankersley and most recently with Bernard Dellario.

Along with exhibiting with The Artists’ Gallery, Kopec is a member of the St. Michaels Art League, the Working Artists Forum and the Art Academy of Easton.

According to a news release, “In ‘Capturing the Moment,’ Kathy strives to capture those moments which evoke an emotional response in the viewer, similar to what she felt at the time. She is especially drawn to the effects of sunlight on an object or scene, changing the ordinary into the extraordinary.”

Kopec’s paintings will be featured at The Artists’ Gallery throughout the month of March.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays.
