CHESTERTOWN — Katie E. LeMaire, Ph.D., has been named Kent Family Center’s director, effective June 3.
Kent County Government announced LeMaire’s promotion in a news release dated June 16.
Since 2015 she has served as a child development specialist at Kent Family Center, supervising child development staff, managing programming for children from birth to 5 years old, and leading parent education and support initiatives.
She also has extensive experience in case management with the Kent County Department of Social Services, early childhood education roles and specialized behavioral support work with children on the autism spectrum.
“Her broad training, reflective leadership style and focus on family-centered support position her to lead the [Kent Family] Center with both vision and empathy,” the news release states.
LeMaire holds a doctorate in infant and early childhood development with an emphasis in mental health and developmental disorders, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in Spanish.
A certified facilitator in several evidence-based parenting and early childhood programs, she is known for her commitment to strengthening families, supporting early learning and mentoring early childhood educators.
“Katie LeMaire has demonstrated exceptional leadership, deep compassion and an unwavering commitment to supporting parents and children in our community,” Kent County Commissioner Albert Nickerson said in a statement. “Her expertise in early childhood development and her years of hands-on experience at the Kent Family Center make her the ideal choice to guide the Center into its next chapter. We are proud to welcome her into this important role.”
