WORTON — It was quite a spring for Trojan Nation, led by state champion high jumper Rah ‘Zir Wilson.
Also, Kent County High School had conference and region champs crowned in track and field, and new program records set; Sebastien Cousineau repeated as a region champ in tennis and earned the No. 1 seed in the state tournament; and the girls and boys lacrosse teams returned to their respective region final — among other highlights.
Kent County High School’s coaches, athletes and their families celebrated the successes of their spring seasons May 19 in an assembly in the school auditorium. Most valuable performers, outstanding sportsmen and Coach’s Choice athletes were recognized.

BASEBALL: Noah Iacona, most valuable player for the second year in a row; Chase Dolgos, outstanding sportsman; and Jake Stumpf, Coach’s Choice.
GIRLS LACROSSE: Jane Cleary, most valuable player; Kayla Aguilar, outstanding sportsman; and Mary Jane Joiner, Coach’s Choice.
BOYS LACROSSE: Gabe Parr, most valuable player for the second year in a row; Alex Harris, outstanding sportsman; and Danny Harris, Coach’s Choice.
SOFTBALL: Talicia Wright, most valuable player; Laila Johnson, outstanding sportsman; and Michelle Menequin, Coach’s Choice.
GIRLS TENNIS: Emi Karlik, most valuable player; Chasity Joncas, outstanding sportsman; and Karoly Quevedo, Coach’s Choice.
BOYS TENNIS: Sebastien Cousineau, most valuable player for the third year in a row; Bjorn Birkmire, outstanding sportsman; and Chris Gonzales, Coach’s Choice.
GIRLS TRACK: Janey Depp, most valuable performer for the second year in a row; Delilah Markovic, outstanding sportsman; and Ke’yare Hawkins, Coach’s Choice for the second year in a row.
BOYS TRACK: Rah ‘Zir Wilson, most valuable performer for the second year in a row; Alijah Floyd, outstanding sportsman; and Ramon “RJ” Peterson, Coach’s Choice.
Also shout-outs should be given to state champion Rah ‘Zir Wilson in the high jump, and region champions Sebastien Cousineau in tennis, Ke’yare Hawkins in shot put, the boys 4×800-meter relay of Joey Homyack, Kiyan Hynson, Trent Johnson and Pacome Mennetrier, and high jumper Wilson.
The Evening Enterprise offers congratulations to Wilson, who established a school record in the high jump; Hawkins, who bettered her own school records in the shot and discus; and Janey Depp, who established new school standards in the 1600 and 3200 meters.
