KCHS coaches applaud winter athletes

WORTON — There was plenty to celebrate this winter on the sports front at Kent County High School, including Bayside Conference champions in indoor track, swimming and wrestling; a region finalist in girls basketball; a new member in boys basketball’s elite 1,000-point club; school records in track and swimming; and the school’s first-ever state champion swimmer.

Also, girls basketball coach Tyray Johnson was his peers’ choice as North Bayside Conference Coach of the Year.

These achievements, and more, were acknowledged March 18 when KCHS coaches saluted their most valuable performers, outstanding sportsmen and Coach’s Choice athletes during an all-sports assembly in the school auditorium.

CHEERLEADING: Kamari Hoxter, most valuable performer; Ava Dalrymple, outstanding sportsman; and Olivia Johnson, Coach’s Choice.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Kate Cannon, most valuable player; Juliette Camilli, outstanding sportsman; and Jane Cleary, Coach’s Choice.

JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL: Dylan Hurtt, most valuable player; Peter Sine, outstanding sportsman; and Gabe Parr, Coach’s Choice.

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL: JySir Valentine, most valuable player for the second year in a row; Dwan Harris, outstanding sportsman; and Jonah Somerville, Coach’s Choice.

GIRLS SWIMMING: Isabelle “Izzy” Anderson, most valuable performer for the fourth year in a row; Lyric Frase, outstanding sportsman; and Mary Jane Joiner, Coach’s Choice.

BOYS SWIMMING: Henry Martinez, most valuable performer for the fourth year in a row; Nate Sutton, outstanding sportsman; and Tucker Ervin, Coach’s Choice for the second year in a row.

INDOOR TRACK: Ramon “RJ” Peterson, most valuable performer; Gavin Larrimore, outstanding sportsman; and Ke’yare Hawkins, Coach’s Choice.

WRESTLING: Ethan Clark, most valuable performer; James Owens, outstanding sportsman; and Scottie Ford, Coach’s Choice.
