CRISFIELD — Kent County remains unbeaten and unscored upon when it comes to facing off with Crisfield in high school girls soccer.
In the most recent edition of this Eastern Shore rivalry, on Sept. 22, the Trojans scored a 3-0 victory at Crisfield — their fourth win by shutout against the Crabbers in as many years.
Senior midfielder Delilah Markovic, Kent County’s 2024 team MVP, put in two goals and classmate Zuleika Nava had the other goal.
Sophomore keeper Lyric Frase, who is playing high school soccer for the first time, was credited with the clean sheet.
The Trojans dominated in time of possession.
“We played good defense when we needed to,” said coach Ben Joiner, “and were able to implement some of the things we had been working on offensively.”
KCHS is 1-6 after Thursday’s shutout loss at Cambridge-South Dorchester.
“Individually, we’re getting better,” Joiner said in an interview Friday during practice, “but we’re still not there as a team.”
He applauded the “dedicated group that keeps showing up.”
“The effort is there. The heart is always there. And we’re staying positive,” Joiner said.
Next week, KCHS has three matches, including a rematch at home with North Dorchester on Oct. 9.
