Joiner qualifies for the Class 1A/2A state tournament for the second year in a row.

On Wednesday, Kent County High School’s girls and boys soccer teams won in the opening round of their respective Class 1A East Region I tournaments — each by a goal.

Also, Kent’s boys defeated host Colonel Richardson, 2-1 in extra time, on junior Gabe Parr’s breakaway goal. They too are traveling to the region’s top seed, St. Michaels, for a 1A East I semifinal at 6 o’clock tonight.
