KCHS sweeps Caroline in jayvee basketball

WORTON — It was a clean sweep for Kent County’s boys Tuesday night in the basketball twin bill here against North Caroline.

In the junior varsity opener, the Trojans put up a 49-33 victory led by the double-digit scoring of the duo of Jayden Miller and Gavin Miller.

Jayden Miller led all players with 20 points, 10 in each half.

Gavin Miller contributed 10 points, all in the second half.  

All told, Kent County received scoring from nine players. Tyrie Beck added five points, De’Andre Sisco and RJ Peterson added three points apiece, and Zayvion Brown, Gabe Parr, John Coleman and Kiyan Hynson each contributed a field goal.

It was a back-and-forth first half, with the Trojans leading after the first quarter, 12-10, and their guests pulling ahead at the break, 23-20.

Kent County outscored North Caroline in the second half, 29-10.

In the third quarter, Gavin Miller and Beck each scored five points and Jayden Miller added four as the Trojans regained the lead for good, 34-28.

The Trojans swept the two-game series. They won at North Caroline, 50-37, on Jan. 2.

What’s ahead: Kent County’s next junior varsity boys game is Tuesday, Feb. 6 at home against Colonel Richardson. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
