KCHS to stage ‘Into the Woods JR.’

WORTON — Wishes and witches feature prominently in Kent County High School’s musical production set to take the stage this week.

Theater students at the high school will be performing “Into the Woods JR.,” an adaptation of a Tony-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.

The show features such familiar fairy tale characters as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack [of the famed beanstalk] in a “lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.”

The curtain goes up in the Kent County High School auditorium at 7 o’clock for evening performances Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28 and at 2 p.m. for a matinee Sunday, March 1.

The cast includes: Bjorn Birkmire as The Narrator; Eamon Lindsey as Jack; Kelly Sengprasert Galan as The Witch; Trent Johnson as The Baker; Ava Pannett as The Baker’s Wife; Amber Vela Fernandez as Little Red Riding Hood; Noelle Demby as Cinderella; Sebastian Cousineau as Cinderella’s Prince and The Wolf; Olivia Chapman as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Granny and Rapunzel; Lanie Gibb as Florinda; Sydney Bortz as Jack’s Mother and Cinderella’s Mother; Emerson Cotton as The Mysterious Man; Lyndon Saunders as Rapunzel’s Prince; and David Kim as The Steward and Cinderella’s Father.

General admission is $10; student tickets are $5.

Kent County High School is located at 25301 Lambs Meadow Road, Worton.
