WORTON — Kent County High School senior Rah ‘Zir Wilson set one school record and flirted with another Thursday, April 9 in the Trojans’ only home track and field meet of the season.
He cleared 6 feet, 8 inches on his first try at that height to pass the previous record of 6-6 that Melvin Morton set in 1995 and Larry Steward equaled in 2024.
Wilson also holds school records of 21 feet, 10.5 inches in the long jump and 43 feet, 10.5 inches in the triple jump. Both records were set in May of 2025.
On Thursday in the high jump, Wilson was the only competitor after he cleared 6 feet, 4 inches.
He made one attempt at 6-9, but then stopped due to soreness in his knee.
Wilson also won the 100 meters in a time that is about a tenth of a second off the school record of 10.7.
On Thursday, KCHS celebrated its seniors — 13 athletes and four managers.
The Evening Enterprise will follow up with a full report on the meet.
