Kent man indicted on charges that include rape

CHESTERTOWN — A Kent County man has been placed on home detention awaiting trial on sexual assault charges that include second-degree rape.

According to online records of the Maryland Judiciary Case Search, James Trevor Elburn, 47, of Chestertown was served a Kent County Circuit Court arrest warrant on May 8 after he was indicted by a grand jury on May 6.

In addition to rape, Elburn is charged with second-degree assault; sexual solicitation of a minor; and multiple counts of third- and fourth-degree sex offenses.

The offenses are alleged to have occurred between March 2020 and October 2021. 

According to online court records, Elburn’s first court date is at the end of May for a motions hearing.

A jury trial has been set for Sept. 9-10.
