ROCK HALL — Kent County Public Schools’ new teachers wrapped up their week of orientation Thursday, Aug. 14 with their own ice cream social at Get The Scoop in Rock Hall.
They are, listed alphabetically: Christine Ballah, special education, H.H. Garnet Elementary School in Chestertown; Sarah Childers, special education, Rock Hall Elementary School; Cynthia Clark, English for Speakers of Other Languages, H.H. Garnet Elementary School; Olivia Heidelmark, third grade, H.H. Garnet Elementary School; Megan Jones, health professions pathway, Kent County High School; and Kaitlin Schurter, second grade, H.H. Garnet Elementary School.
All teachers return Monday, Aug. 18.
For the first time in recent memory, KCPS students are returning to the classroom before Labor Day. It’s a staggered start, beginning with students in grades 1-6 and 9 on Monday, Aug. 25. All students in grades 1-12 will be in school on Tuesday, Aug. 26. And kindergartners and pre-K students will start on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Schools and offices will be closed Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday.
Everyone will be back in school Tuesday, Sept. 2.
