WORTON — The Trojans are healthy and well rested heading into tomorrow’s homecoming football game against their border rivals from Queen Anne’s County High School.
Last week’s game at Nandua High School in Virginia was postponed [with no makeup date yet] because of persistent coastal flooding due to a nor’easter. As recently as Thursday, Oct. 1, Nandua and all Accomack County Public Schools had an early dismissal and all after-school activities were cancelled.
A week off has its benefits, but the downside is that Kent County has had only two games while Queen Anne’s has had four.
KCHS is coming off of a 64-0 rout of North East-Cecil here on Sept. 18 — the first win in the coach Paul Tue III era — to level its record at 1-1. Sophomore Romelo “Melo” Wilson scored five touchdowns and totaled more than 300 all-purpose yards.
Wilson and classmate Paul “Bang” Tue IV, also a two-way threat, are Queen Anne’s transfers.
QACHS is 0-4, with three losses by shutout.
Most recently, the Lions on Sept. 25 took it on the chin at Stephen Decatur, 35-0.
Kickoff for Saturday’s homecoming game is at 11 a.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for students.
At halftime, among other activities, the homecoming queen and king will be crowned and the KCHS Brigade of Blue will perform its show titled “Lost in TV Land” featuring theme songs from hit television shows.
The concession stand will be open; proceeds will benefit the high school’s Athletic Boosters Club.
