CHESTERTOWN — Two dozen schools already have signed on for Kent School’s annual secondary school fair scheduled for Oct. 9. They include Kent County High School, Queen Anne’s County High School, The Gunston School in Centreville and Saints Peter & Paul High School in Easton.
The event is for students in grades six, seven and eight and their parents and guardians.
All families in the area are invited; there is no fee.
The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the M.V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium or outside on Kent School’s riverside field, weather permitting.
Kent School is located at 6788 Wilkins Lane, Chestertown.
“The purpose of the event is to bring as many secondary schools together in one place at one time so students and parents can get an overview of the wonderful options for high school,” Tricia Cammerzell, Kent School’s assistant head of school for advancement, said in a news release.
She added, “This is an opportunity for families to speak with admission representatives and decide if they want to delve further into the admission process for a particular school.”
This year’s schools are from throughout the mid-Atlantic region, as well as California and New England. They include several independent, parochial and area public schools, both day and boarding schools.
A boarding school information session will be held prior to the start of the fair, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Kent School library. It also is open to the public.
Representatives from the Mid-Atlantic Boarding Schools, which include Mercersburg Academy, The Peddie School, Episcopal High School, Blair Academy and St. Andrew’s School, will be on hand to talk to students and parents about the opportunities that boarding schools offer.
