Kent School to offer free Saturday morning programs for children ages 3 to 6

CHESTERTOWN — Kent School will host two Saturday morning programs in February that are designed to spark curiosity, creativity and active play, according to a news release.

Both programs are best suited for children ages 3 to 6.

The public is invited; no registration or fee is required.

Gym Time: Tumble and Climb will be offered on Feb. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. What is described as “an engaging obstacle course and a variety of movement-based activities” will be set up in the M. W. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium. This program encourages physical development, coordination and confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

“Sometimes it is hard to get outside and really move in colder months. Gym Time Tumble and Climb is a great way for kids to use some energy and have a ton of fun using our mats, vault, rings, climbing rope and more,” said Erin Kent, the school’s director of athletics and facilities.

Osprey Explorations is the title of the Feb. 28 program, also offered from 9 to 11 a.m. This is an interactive program that blends hands-on art activities, science exploration and a guided nature walk, giving children the opportunity to learn through creativity and discovery. Art teacher Amy Bower and Lower School science teacher Meghan Ferster are credited with creating a meaningful and memorable experience where children will learn through play.

According to the news release, the Feb. 7 and 28 programs “are designed to introduce young learners to Kent School’s experiential approach to early childhood education.”
