Legacy Day

CHESTERTOWN — The Legacy Day exhibit honoring local Black fraternal and community service organizations opened Friday, Aug. 2 at the Historical Society of Kent County’s Bordley History Center as part of downtown Chestertown’s monthly observance of First Friday. 

Legacy Day is produced annually by Sumner Hall in cooperation with the historical society, and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Kent County’s African American community.

The exhibit at the Bordley History Center (301 High St.) will remain up throughout the month of August. It will be open for public viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

A separate exhibit, titled “Pride Without Prejudice: The Debutantes of Kent County,” will open Friday night, Aug. 16 at Sumner Hall (206 S. Queen St.) and remain up through Sept. 30.

Legacy Day will be held Aug. 16-18.
