Mid-Shore’s top golfer Joiner, Trojan teammates are at Chester River today

CHESTERTOWN — Kent County High School’s golfers tee off at 3:30 p.m today at Chester River Yacht & Country Club for their only home match of the season.

This is an opportunity for the public to see the Mid-Shore’s top player, KCHS sophomore Quinten Joiner, who is averaging a 9-hole score of 35.6.

It’s also a chance to see Joiner’s toughest competition, Queen Anne’s senior Sam Yetman (39.2) and Kent Island senior Josh David (39.8).

Joiner and David shared medalist honors in their most recent match — Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Hog Neck Golf Course in Easton — when they carded 38s. This was the first match in 2025 that Joiner was not the outright medalist.

Kent Island’s Scott Schell and North Caroline’s Logan Ragione tied for third with 41s.

Golfers played the more challenging back nine, forcing them to be more precise with their shotmaking as it winds through a forest of towering loblolly pines.

In the team scoring, Kent Island (171) came out on top.

County rival Queen Anne’s, led by Yetman’s 44, was second with a team score of 188.

Then came North Caroline (197), Easton (199) and St. Michaels (207) to round out the top five.

KCHS totaled 218 to finish sixth among nine schools.

The Trojans’ composite score was made up of Joiner, Braden Wilson (51), Lawrence Peach (64) and Tucker Ervin (65).

Brexton Usilton shot a 68, but only the four lowest scores are added together to form the team score.
