MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Washington College is 2-for-2 in women’s basketball this season against Salisbury, and 2-2 on the season.
The Shore ladies reached .500 Saturday at the Sea Gulls’ expense, getting a game-high 17 points from junior guard Abby Meredith in a 56-44 victory on day two of the Messiah University Tip-Off Tournament.
Kaitlyn Boggs scored 10 points and Karry Kelliher and Kiersten Rose (game-best 12 rebounds) each contributed eight points to help deliver the 100th career win for head coach Alisha Mosley, now in her 12th season at Washington.
Washington led wire-to-wire as Meredith, Boggs and Peyton Berger collectively scored the first six points of the afternoon.
The spread was 12-4 at the end of the first frame and 24-11 after two.
Washington closed out the half on a 12-2 run, with scoring from Rose, Kelliher, Avery Thomas and Maggie Lawrence.
Back-to-back buckets from Meredith in the span of 42 seconds doubled Washington’s advantage, 30-15, less than four minutes into the third quarter. Meredith scored seven points in the quarter to help stretch the lead to 41-25.
The locals led by at least 12 points the rest of the way.
Washington shot 24-of-50 from the floor, which included 0-of-2 from 3-point range, and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Salisbury was 11-of-44 from the floor, which included 6-of-18 in 3-point attempts.
Sophomore guard Nicole Miller led the Sea Gulls with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor; she was 4-of-6 from outside the arc.

Messiah (3-0) defeated Washington, 52-38, and Rowan, 60-44, over the weekend to win its own tournament. Senior guard Reese Harden, an honorable mention All-American in 2023-24, was named the tournament MVP after totaling 37 points and nine rebounds in the two games.

Washington at home on Nov. 9 defeated Salisbury, 50-39, in the season opener for both schools.
