Nickerson named to conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team for lacrosse

CHESTERTOWN — Washington College senior defenseman Michael Nickerson of Worton has been named to the Centennial Conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team for men’s lacrosse.

He appeared in nine games this season for the 6-11 Shoremen, with two starts.

He earned his first career start in the 18-14 victory over then-No. 20 Gettysburg in the regular-season finale on April 27 that clinched a home game for the opening round of the conference tournament.

All told over four seasons, Nickerson appeared in 22 games, with two starts.

Nickerson is a graduate of The Gunston School in Centreville, where he was an All-Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (first team) and All-Maryland Independent Lacrosse League (second team) performer. He also was a member of the National Honor Society.

Also for Washington College, in voting by the Centennial Conference’s nine head lacrosse coaches, junior midfielder Ben Dickinson of Middletown, Rhode Island received honorable mention.

Dickinson appeared in all 17 games (eight starts) for the Shoremen, and led them with 39 points. His line included 27 goals, 12 assists and 23 ground balls.

He has 82 career points on 51 goals and 31 assists in 47 games, with 14 starts.
