CHESTERTOWN — The Olde Kent Quilters Guild will present its Shore Love Quilts! show and market on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25 at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, located at 905 Gateway Drive.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
A suggested donation of $10 provides admission for both days.
There is no cost for children 12 and younger.
Guild members have spent the past two years lovingly and skillfully creating more than 100 quilts that will be on display.
The exhibit highlights both the art and craft of quilting, featuring a wide variety of styles and techniques including traditional patchwork, modern art quilts and original designs.
There will be a colorful collection of quilts ranging from small wall hangings to full bed-size pieces.
Several of the quilts have received honors at the Kent County, Queen Anne’s County and Maryland state fairs, as well as other regional quilt shows.
In addition to the quilts, visitors can explore a display of fiber arts created by guild members, including wearable pieces, embroidery and home décor items.
The show’s marketplace will offer a diverse selection of handcrafted items, books, patterns and fabrics available for purchase.
Scissor and blade sharpening services will be available on Friday.
Sharing the beauty and comfort of quilts is an important part of the guild’s mission.
Through the Deborah’s Angels Comfort Quilt Program, the guild has donated more than 2,500 small quilts since 2004 to sick and needy children, hospice patients, nursing home residents and survivors of natural disasters.
These programs are supported in part by proceeds from the guild’s annual raffle quilt and other raffle prizes.
The 2026 raffle quilt, based on the pattern Fiddlesticks and Fancies by Kim Diehl, features a hand-appliquéd center created by guild member Gretchen Knowles. This quilt has an appraised value of $2,800.
Many guild members contributed to its creation, giving everyone a sense of ownership — and a shared love for the finished piece.
Raffle tickets — $1 per ticket, $5 for six tickets — will be available at the show and throughout the year at various Kent County locations.
The raffle drawing is Nov. 17.
Founded in 1995 in Chestertown, the Olde Kent Quilters Guild meets on the third Tuesday of each month from January through November at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown.
Guild activities include monthly programs and workshops with local, regional and nationally known speakers; special-interest sewing groups [“bees”]; comfort quilt and community outreach programs; an annual small-quilt exhibit; a biennial show and market; and two annual retreats.
Quilters of all skill levels — including beginners — are welcome.
