Winter sports orientation at KCHS is Nov. 9

WORTON — Orientation for winter sports at Kent County High School is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 in the school auditorium. This is for new and returning athletes, and their parents.

It’s an opportune time to meet coaches and learn about their expectations for the season and practice schedules.

According to Athletic Director Kevin Taylor, all head coaching positions have been filled. Coaches and their staffs are listed here.

CHEERLEADING: head coach Tilise Brown; and paid assistant LaToya Johnson.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: head coach Tyray Johnson; paid assistant Chanelle Copper; and volunteer Antoine Reed.

JAYVEE BOYS BASKETBALL: head coach Ervin Christy; and volunteer James Christy.

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL: head coach Sobaye Scott; and paid assistant James “Buck” Kennard.

INDOOR TRACK: head coach Kalyn Stout; and paid assistant Kim Penny.

SWIMMING: head coach Grayson Wise; paid assistant Caren Saunders; and volunteer Christina Bonass.

WRESTLING: head coach Chris Yiannakis; paid assistant Jonathan Fitch; and volunteers Michael Mench, Donnie Yerkie, Richard Bacastow, Matt Jones and Jared Brown.

The first day for practices is Wednesday, Nov. 15. Athletes are reminded they cannot practice until they have a completed physical on file with the school. A physical is valid for one year.
