Pedestrian fatally injured near Chestertown

CHESTERTOWN — Maryland State Police are investigating a pedestrian-involved fatality early Tuesday morning, Oct. 15 in the 6500-block of Church Hill Road (also known as state Route 213), which is just outside of Chestertown in Queen Anne’s County.

The deceased’s identity is not being released to the public until the next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was reported uninjured and remained at the scene, according to an MSP news release.

At about 6:15 a.m., troopers from the state police barrack in Centreville responded to the area of Route 213 at Route 544 for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

According to the preliminary investigation, for unknown reasons the pedestrian traveled across the roadway and was subsequently struck by a passenger vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both lanes of traffic on Route 213 were closed for about two hours for the crash investigation.

Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure.
