ATTEMPTED ROBBERY. Officer Pedro Rodriguez, on Dec. 28, took a report of an attempted armed robbery in the 800-block of High Street. According to a CPD news release, the investigation is active.
HOME INVASION. Officer Karyn Harris and PFC Brandon McGinnis, on Jan. 3, responded to the 100-block of Hawkins Drive for a reported armed home invasion. According to Chief Ron Dixon, a male broke out a window of an occupied apartment with a brick, entered the residence, displayed a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Chief Dixon said “this was a group effort.”

ASSAULT. Jorge Orozco Miranda, 56, Chestertown, on Jan. 4, was charged with second-degree assault; disorderly conduct; failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order; and intoxicated, endanger. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center. The offenses are alleged to have occurred in the 100-block of Edge of Town Drive. PFC Travis Burke investigated.
MDOP. PFC Eric Nunez, on Jan. 5, took a report of malicious destruction of property in the 100-block of North Cross Street.
THEFT. Russell Raymond Nolan Jr., 48, Glen Burnie, on Jan. 8, was served a district court bench warrant for unlawful taking of a motor vehicle; theft, $1,500 to less than $25,000; rogue and a vagabond; and unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bond. The offenses are alleged to have occurred July 16, 2023 in the 100-block of High Street. Police reported that the vehicle was recovered July 29, 2023.

HARASS. Thomas Jackson Sharp, 23, Millington, on Dec. 30, was served a Queen Anne’s County District Court summons for electronic communication harassment. He was released after signing for the summons.
FRAUD. Cpl. Dave Nolan is investigating a Dec. 30 report of fraud/identity theft in which someone obtained more than $3,000 in loans in the name of a Worton resident.
BURGLARY. DFC Tyler Baitsholts is investigating a Dec. 31 burglary and theft in the 26000-block of Maple Avenue, Still Pond. According to a sheriff’s office news release, someone forced entry into a residence and removed several firearms.
DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. William Bone, 64, Betterton, on Jan. 2, was served a circuit court arrest warrant charging him with manufacture, possess, distribute a destructive device; and possession of an explosive/incendiary device with intent to use it. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bond.
FTA. Kennan Blaine Houston, 33, Halethorpe, on Jan. 4, was served a circuit court body attachment for failure to appear in court. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bond.
THEFT. Cpl. Aquil Freeman is investigating a Jan. 4 reported theft of money in the 100-block of West Cross St., Galena.
FTA. Osman Alexis Soler Maldonado, 19, Aberdeen, on Jan. 4, was served a Harford County District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court and a Baltimore County District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court. He was released on his own recognizance by the district court commissioner on both warrants.
ILLEGAL DUMPING. Sgt. Nick Watson, on Jan. 5, responded to the 300-block of Main Street in Betterton for a report of illegal dumping. “The investigation showed that garbage in excess of 100 pounds had been deliberately placed on the property by a known suspect,” a sheriff’s office news release states.
