CHESTERTOWN — After what has been described as “years of extensive work,” the Town of Chestertown and the Chestertown Planning Commission are set to present a draft updated comprehensive plan to the public.
After a 60-day review period, the Maryland Department of Planning, and other state agencies, have provided comments on the draft plan.
Town planners “will make edits in line with comments with the aim to finalize and submit for Town approval in the near future,” a news release states.
[The comprehensive plan is approved and adopted by Chestertown’s mayor and council. While the planning commission is responsible for drafting, revising and holding public hearings on the plan, the final approval authority rests with the elected mayor and council.]
The Chestertown Planning Commission will host a public forum regarding the comprehensive plan, as well as comments from state agencies, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
This will be an opportunity for a public discussion about the future planning issues of Chestertown.
Feedback on the comprehensive plan also may be provided by letter to town hall (118 N. Cross St., Chestertown, MD 21620) or email at zoning@chestertown.com.
