Resonance Concert Series’ Matchstick Percussion to perform May 3

CHESTERTOWN — The National Music Festival’s Resonance Concert Series’ season finale is a performance by Matchstick Percussion at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 at St. Paul’s Church near Chestertown.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for students with ID and children under 14.

Matchstick Percussion is a Maryland-based percussion quartet dedicated to new music and expanding the percussion repertoire. The group performs throughout the United States and gives masterclasses to students from elementary to university level.

One of the members, Zachary Wilson, is an alumnus of the National Music Festival.

“We are delighted to present Matchstick Percussion for a fun afternoon of music! It’s especially wonderful to welcome an ensemble that includes a National Music Festival alumnus who has gone on to a successful career in music,” said NMF Executive Director Caitlin Patton.

The Resonance series will resume for the 2026-27 season on Oct. 18 with National Music Festival musicians Leili Asanbekova [piano] and David Agia [cello].

All Resonance performances are on Sundays at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s, Kent, 7579 Sandy Bottom Road, Chestertown.

“The National Music Festival is grateful to St. Paul’s for providing a beautiful venue for Resonance concerts. In the colder months, a fire in the fireplace makes for a cozy atmosphere to enjoy great music,” a news release states.
